Mr. Maurice R. Greenberg is Chairman and CEO of C. V. Starr and Company. He joined C. V. Starr and Company as Vice President in 1960 and was given the additional responsibilities of President of American Home Assurance Company in 1962 (the precursor of AIG).

Mr. Greenberg retired as Chairman and CEO of American International Group, Inc. (AIG) in March 2005, after serving as Chairman and Chief Executive Officer from May 1989 until March 2005. Under his leadership AIG became the largest insurance company in the world and generated unprecedented value for AIG shareholders. During the nearly 40 years of his leadership, AIG’s market value grew from $300 million to $180 billion.

Mr. Greenberg served in the U. S. Army in Europe during World War II and in the Korean conflict, rising to the rank of Captain. He is a recipient of the Bronze Star.

Mr. Greenberg is former Chairman of the Asia Society. He is the founding Chairman of the U.S.-Philippine Business Committee and Vice Chairman of the U.S.-ASEAN Business Council. Mr. Greenberg is Honorary Vice Chairman and Director of the Council on Foreign Relations, former Chairman and current member of U.S.-Korea Business Council, Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors and member of the Executive Committee of the National Committee on United States-China Relations, a member of the U.S. – China Business Council, and a member of The Business Council. Mr. Greenberg served on the Board of Directors of the New York Stock Exchange, the President’s Advisory Committee for Trade Policy and Negotiations and The Business Roundtable. He is the past Chairman, Deputy Chairman and Director of the Federal Reserve Bank of New York.
