Nouriel Roubini

Nouriel Roubini is the founder of Roubini Global Economics, professor at the Stern School of Business in New York and best-selling author of Crisis Economics: A Crash Course in the Future of Finance. Roubini was one of a handful of analysts who predicted the economic crisis of 2008. His writings appear regularly in the Wall Street Journal, the New York Times and the Financial Times.

Popularly known as Dr. Doom by the New York Times, Dr. Nouriel Roubini is known for his now-vindicated prediction of the current financial crisis. He speaks on the global economic outlook and its implications for financial markets.

Ignored for a long time by mainstream economists and policy makers, he now receives invitations to speak before such influential organizations as the U.S. Congress and the Council on Foreign Relations. He has been forecasting a serious financial crisis in the U.S. for years, speaking notably before a skeptical IMF about his predictions in 2006. His myth shattering book Crisis Economics: A Crash Course in the Future of Finance reveals the methods Roubini used to foretell the current crisis before other economists saw it coming, and shows how those methods can help us make sense of the present and prepare for the future.

Dr. Roubini was once again chosen for the Foreign Policy’s Top 100 Global Thinkers 2010 list and was named to Fortune Magazine's 10 new gurus you should know.
